And another "sleeping beauty" on my Harddrive. It is Mount Sunday, wich was used as the Location of "Edoras" in the "Lord of the Rings"-Movies (pt2 and 3) and located in the remote Mount Potts and Erewon Station

Holy Canoli! I didn't expect to see the Rangitata River Valley while cruising around DA. That's where I grew up! We lived on the other side of the river though - we used to look at the filming at "Edoras" through the binoculars!

I guess itīs a nice place to grow up, but a bit away from everything, exept the beautyful nature of New Zealand :-) Watching the filming must be lotta fun.

To be honest, we couldn't really make much of it out. We were still proud as punch though!

It's a wonderful place to grow up, for sure. I went to a primary school which had a roll of ten students aged from 5 to 12!! Winter's weren't much fun though.. but they did have the most glorious windless summer days. I miss it so much.

So your Family moved from that place? I am courious about that place "Lake Clearwater", because it looked not like a full season town. Donīt get me wrong, we went through a LOT of small villages and so, but that place was "diffrent". But New Zealand was a Dream come true for me. I planned that trip for four years and next year I gonna take my girl to the south island and I then we are going to that special and quiet place. I recall one elderly lady in mount Somer telling me "Oh, that place is magical" and she was right.

Sorry for babbeling :-)

Please don't be sorry! Babbling is great :-) Yes, Clearwater is a seasonal place - full of what we call 'batches'. A batch is a holiday home i.e. not somewhere a person lives but a permanent camp so people can visit the lake. Does that make sense? I think you picked that up though!

So like a "Holiday" Camp :-) I wanted to camp there but I guess it better not to. Some people tell me I can camp somewere near Mount Sunday. So I can get some shots from that place in Sunset and dawn. Well I guess I try to get some more information were this "spot" might be.

A bit like a holiday camp, but those batches are owned the same way a person would own a house, so you can't just go and set up a tent anywhere. But some people will probably hire out the use of the batch, so it's worth doing a little bit of investigation.

As for Mt Sunday, I would look into trying to get ahold of the owner or the manager of the station called Erewhon Station. They might let you camp there as I believe it is their property.
